American Airlines today named Christine Valls as its new General Sales Director for Florida, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Hispanic market in the United States. In this position she will be in charge of sales revenue for passengers and relationships with agencies and corporations in these markets. Valls, born in Florida and raised in Puerto Rico, replaces Peter Vittori, who recently announced his retirement after 32 years with the airline.
“During her 27 years with American, Christine has made a number of significant contributions to the Sales organization, playing an important role in our continued expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Chris DeGroot, vice president of International Sales. “Her strong track record and leadership qualities, as well as the incredible work she has done in establishing relationships with our clients and employees, make her the perfect person to lead our team.”
Valls began his career with American in 1991 as a Customer Service Representative and quickly rose through the company in several Sales and Sales Planning positions. She also directed American’s interactive marketing efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean and most recently was Regional Sales Director for Mexico and Central and South America.
Valls has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from American University in Washington, D.C. and lives in Doral, Florida with her husband and two children.
