Collado reports for the second consecutive October that visitor arrival records are broken


SANTO DOMINGO , RD November 8, 2022. – The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that for the second consecutive October, the Dominican Republic once again broke records in the arrival of visitors, registering the historic visit of 491,787 tourists last month, surpassing by 32% in the same period of 2019.

He said that the arrival of tourists in October this year exceeded 119,582 visitors more than the same month in 2019 and 2018.

«We did it again and in what way, with the arrival of 119,582 more tourists than in 2019. It is the second consecutive October that we break records, something truly historic,» Collado said when presenting, how each month, the figures of tourism behavior .

He reported that the period January-October the country received, by air, the arrival of 5,826,078 tourists.

The cruise industry is also registering notable growth, with the arrival of 88,178 in the month of October.

Amber Cove surpassed passenger arrivals in October with 49,342, followed by Taíno Bay with 26, 100 in 11 operations, La Romana Port with 10,589 and Sans Soucí Port, 2,147 in 13 tour boat operations.

Added to the 894, 419 excursionists through cruise tourism, between January-October 2022, 6.72 million visitors arrived by air and sea to the Dominican Republic.

He stated that only in October the arrival of visitors generated more than 517 million in foreign currency.

«This means that in the first 10 months of this year the arrival of visitors contributed 7,278 million dollars to our economy,» the official said.
