The airline has worked hand in hand with PROMTUR Panama and several public-private entities to promote the country as a destination among its passengers.
As part of an articulated effort between the public and private sectors for the reactivation of the tourism sector in Panama, Copa Airlines presented a series of initiatives, including special incentives and discounted rates on air tickets. These tariff initiatives seek to create synergies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the advancement of the vaccination program in Panama, the relaxation of entry requirements to the country and the gradual recovery of air connectivity through the Copa Airlines Hub of the Americas.
“The connectivity offered by Copa Airlines through the Hub of the Americas is a fundamental economic development engine for Panama and the region, thanks to the fact that it promotes tourism, facilitates trade and increases productivity, so we do not hesitate to work with the authorities to strongly promote and support the reactivation of the tourism sector, as part of our historic commitment to the development of Panama, ”said Pedro Heilbron, executive president of Copa Airlines.
With the help of the Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR PANAMÁ), Copa Airlines recently relaunched the Panama Stopover program, which offers an incentive for the thousands of passengers who travel annually through the Hub of the Americas® in Panama via any Copa flight Airlines, can include in their itinerary an extended stay in the country of up to 6 days and 7 nights, at no additional cost in the airfare. This product is available in all countries in the airline’s network.
“One of the main objectives of PROMTUR Panama is to generate demand from international travelers through strategic alliances, and programs such as the Panama Stopover align with our efforts to position the country as a tourist destination in an attractive way for the thousands of tourists who travel to through Copa Airlines ”, stated Fernando Fondevila, PROMTUR CEO.
Another of the initiatives promoted by Copa Airlines is Panama Irresistible, which offers airfare at reduced prices to travel to Panama from more than 30 destinations, such as Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago, Miami, Guadalajara, Barranquilla, Santo Domingo, Mexico City and Lima, among others. Special fares, which average a 35% discount on ticket prices.
Committed to generating well-being and contributing to the economic and social recovery of the region, Copa Airlines adds its support to the innovative Vacutur Panama tourist vaccination program, run by the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), the Ministry of Tourism. Presidency, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Government Innovation Authority (AIG). On this occasion, the Airline will offer reduced rates for wholesalers, travel agencies and the general public in order to provide accessible options to international tourists who are expected to participate in this initiative. In addition, it will invest in a campaign to promote this initiative across the continent.
Additionally, hand in hand with the Tourism Authority of Panama, Copa Airlines joins Panama Black Week, through the promotion of reduced rates for air tickets to Panama between September 30 and October 10, to attract tourists to the country who enjoy the attractive shopping offers that will be offered by more than 14 shopping centers nationwide.
Finally, with the aim of strengthening the efforts to reactivate tourism in the country, Copa Airlines will support the National Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR) as a sponsor in the realization of the first face-to-face tourism fair of 2021, Panama Travel Mart, offering air tickets to the participants. The event will bring together the main tourism service providers in the country with important buyers from Latin America and the United States.
With these and the continuous efforts promoting the country, Copa Airlines and the authorities of the tourism sector in Panama reaffirm their commitment to the reactivation of a sector that has been one of the most affected by the pandemic caused by Covid-19, and which is one of the main contributors to the economic well-being of the country.
