SANTO DOMINGO , RD February 7, 2022.- Meliá Hotels International is pleased to announce the appointment of Francisco Camps Orfila, as the new Managing Director of the Dominican Republic, who, in his new position, will manage the resorts of the renowned chain in the Dominican Republic, such as Paradisus Grand Cana, Paradisus Palma Real, Meliá Punta Cana Beach and Meliá Caribe Beach, with the aim of continuing to promote the strong presence of Meliá Hotels International in the Caribbean region.
As part of its extensive experience, Camps Orfila has developed a successful stage of more than three decades in Cuba, occupying different positions of responsibility in the operation of the hotels on the island. He joined the company in 1987 and worked in various hotels in Menorca – Spain. In addition, he was part of the “Take Over” team, during the company’s expansion process in the Iberian Peninsula.
Camps Orfila joined the Cuba Division team to carry out training tasks in the accommodation area in 1990 and five years later he was appointed Director of Development, participating in product design, staff training and opening of all the hotels that the company manages on the Island. From 2001 he held the position of Director of Operations until being appointed in 2011 , Area Managing Director of Cuba, a position he held until his recent appointment.
The 31 years on the island and his professional career have allowed him to acquire vast experience in the tourism sector in Cuba, which will greatly contribute to continue promoting the leadership and expansion of the Meliá chain in the Dominican Republic.
