FiturNext, the FITUR observatory dedicated to promoting good tourism practices in terms of sustainability, sponsored by Mastercard, advances the agenda of the 2022 edition focused on the industry’s contribution to accessibility that will be held between January 19 and 21 in within the framework of the Madrid International Tourism Fair, FITUR.
The event will have three days whose high point will be the award ceremony for the winning initiatives of the FiturNext 2022 challenge, complemented by a series of testimonies, talks and debates that will address the importance of contributing to inclusion and promoting a tourism offer that responds to citizen needs of any kind.
An agenda committed to equity
Recognized professionals in accessibility will be part of the program, with the aim of exposing their experience, knowledge and trajectory based on promoting and promoting tourist destinations that are committed to an offer available to all people.
The figures of Luigi Leporiere, head of the accessible tourism area of PREDIF (State Representative Platform of People with Physical Disabilities), and Tania Iglesias, project manager of the Research, Development and innovation area of SEGITTUR, a pioneering program that promotes Smart Tourist Destinations stand out. . The projects coordinated by Leporiere are linked to the strategic planning of accessibility in the tourism field, the organization of trips with assistance and the inclusion of all people. For his part, Iglesias is currently working on the development of tourism intelligence and Big Data initiatives such as Tourism Innovation Systems.

Every year, the members of the Advisory Council, made up of renowned experts and professionals from the tourism sector, contribute their vision to complement the selection process of the winning initiatives of the FiturNext challenge, according to their replicability index and impact on the sector.
This edition has four new additions: Dr. Concepción Foronda, professor at the University of Seville and director of the Chair of Intelligent Tourism, Dr. Cristina Figueroa Domecq, professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University, Dr. Daniela Freund de Kumblis, professor and researcher at HTSI (Sant Ignasi Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management) and Dr. Daniela Moreno Alarcón, consultant and researcher specialized in tourism and gender.
