IHG Hotels & Resorts celebrates surpass the 6,000 hotels open around the globe


IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, celebrates 6,000 open hotels by presenting ‘The 6,000 Club’ and announces partnerships with sporting and entertainment events as part of the festivities.

‘The 6,000 Club’ is a collection of recently opened impressive hotels within IHG’s iconic portfolio, showcasing the global reach of its 17 brands and the versatility with which its teams delight owners and guests with their promise of brand, Always offer Genuine Hospitality.

The milestone was commemorated by IHG CEO Keith Barr, at the New York Stock Exchange on June 7, when he rang the bell to signal the closing of operations, accompanied by general managers and colleagues from local hotels.

Over the past five years, IHG has increased its appeal to owners and guests by acquiring or launching six brands to add 17 brands that now make up its portfolio, providing more choices and amazing experiences than ever before. The additions include the Luxury and Lifestyle brands: Six Senses, Regent and Vignette Collection; voco hotels within its Premium collection; avid hotels part of the Essentials collection, and its new Atwell Suites brand, in the long stay segment.

IHG will increase its global portfolio by 30%, with more than 1,800 hotels already signed in its development pipeline, showing how much owners value the strength and scale of IHG’s brands. To thank guests, the company recently redesigned its loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, to offer members more choice, more relevant value and rewards, and personalization options, powered by cutting-edge technology with a new mobile app.

The company also announces a series of sports and entertainment alliances for IHG One Rewards members that will connect travelers to events around the world, such as Major League Soccer, European Professional Club Rugby and music festivals in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The 6,000 Club

‘The Club of 6,000’ hotels will celebrate the occasion in the coming months by surprising select guests with 6,000 IHG ​​One Rewards points. Some of the hotels in the Club are:

  • Holiday Inn Express Monterrey Fundidora  – In the perfect location to discover all that Mexico’s third largest city has to offer, this property features comfortable rooms and a relaxing atmosphere. It is located in front of Fundidora Park, one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in Monterrey, so guests of this hotel can enjoy impressive views from the rooftop.
  • Regent Phu Quoc: The first suite and villa resort under the premium luxury brand in Southeast Asia, located off the southwestern coast of Vietnam adjacent to a UNESCO designated World Biosphere Reserve.
  • Atwell Suites Denver Airport – Tower Road: The second hotel to open for IHG’s new suites brand, featuring the brand’s signature design and adaptable spaces that accommodate longer stays and allow for an easy transition between business and leisure.
