Miami Tourism Office and Puerto Plata Cluster webinar over 100 US travel agents


MIAMI , Florida. February 23, 2021.- The Tourism Promotion Office of the Dominican Republic in Miami (OPT Miami) together with the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster held a webinar (virtual seminar) to promote and educate travel agents and wholesalers about the Coast North.

In the event called “Explore Puerto Plata”, more than 100 travel agents and wholesalers from the United States market participated, and ten representatives from different hotel chains in the Puerto Plata area.

This initiative, which is part of the promotion strategy adopted by the Miami OPT to continue promoting the different destinations in the country, had as its main objective to promote the varied and diverse hotel and complementary offerings of the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, as well as educate agents on the topics of health protocols, free insurance and free antigen testing.

“For us it is of utmost importance to keep travel agents informed and educated about the different tourist destinations in the country, as well as health protocols,” said the director of the Miami OPT, Wendy Justo.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, Tatty Lahoz, indicated that this type of action is very effective in promoting the destination, while highlighting her satisfaction with the event, given the receptivity and positive comments from both the Exponents (hoteliers) such as that of the guests was very positive, the comments and questions from the guests about how the country is in handling protocols, in traffic safety, and expressions of satisfaction and desires to visit the destination was overwhelming.

Among the participants and exhibitors who took part in this event, the following stand out Before Boarding, Amhsa Marina, Be Live Hotels, BlueBay Hotels, Blue JackTar Hotel & Golf, Hodelpa Hotels (Emotions and Expression of Hodelpa, POP), Iberostar, Mint Hotels & Residences, Sunscape Puerto Plata, Viva Resorts.

A complete multi-destination

Puerto Plata, where tourism began in the Dominican Republic, continues to be one of the favorite destinations for visitors. Its spectacular and extensive landscape combines sea, mountains, green valleys, rivers and a number of beaches. Its fertile soil gives rise to cocoa and coffee plantations, while beneath the earth, lies the lightest amber in the world.

In addition to nature, Puerto Plata has a lot of towns that provide a number of cultural experiences. The main entry points to Puerto Plata include the Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP), located 15 minutes from the city center and the hotels in Playa Dorada or Costa Dorada, and the Amber Cove Cruise Center in Maimon.
