The Corales Puntacana Championship puts DR tourism in high gear

The celebration of important sports tournaments in the country places the Dominican Republic in an important place as a safe tourist destination in times of recovery of the sector after the incidence of Covid-19.

This is evidenced by the celebration of the fourth edition of the PGA Tour 2021 at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club, which has made history for being the first PGA Tour event to be held twice in the same season.

The sporting event highlighted, during its celebration, the leading golf destination in the Caribbean and this was expressed by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, when indicating that he was proud of the event in the country.

“What a pride that the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship PGA Tour 2021, organized by Grupo Puntacana, takes place in the Dominican Republic. Always raising our Country Brand and our tourism ”, he emphasized on his social networks.

During a visit to the golf course during the tournament, Collado praised and accompanied the Rainieri family: Frank Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana; Senior Vice President of Hospitality, Haydée Kuret Rainieri; Frank Elías Rainieri, Senior Vice President of Business; Francesca Rainieri, Senior Vice President and Paola Rainieri.

The event also went down in history in an iconic way when the champions of the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour in Punta Cana, called the “Kings of Corales”, were welcomed back to the Corales golf course.

For the business group, being the hosts and organizers, for the fourth consecutive year of the PGA Tour in the country, is a way to promote, in a unique way, the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana.

It is recalled that more than 100 players participated in the competition where Joel Dahmen was the winner, who took $ 540,000 for first place in a prize pool of $ 3 million, the highest in the history of Dominican sport, and 300 points. for the FedExCup.
