With the event, the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana are promoted worldwide as the leading golf tourist destination in the Caribbean, reaching 1 billion television viewers in 200 countries and more than 5.5 million impressions in digital media worldwide. National and international. This sporting event will feature the participation of five Dominican players, who are currently participating for their classification in the Canita Tour, which will culminate in the first week of March.
This event will be held in an invitational mode, allowing limited access for Puntacana Resort & Club owners, main sponsors and special partners, following the sanitary hygiene and safety protocols implemented by the resort and endorsed by the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Tourism and the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the tourism sector.
They reported that, on Wednesday, March 24, the PRO-AM will be held, a traditional meeting between local amateur players and professionals from the PGA TOUR, confirming the participation of 120 players, divided into groups of 3 and distributed in 2 batches of 60 who must carry a negative PCR or antigen test the day before the event.
As of Thursday, March 25, the access of invited spectators will be allowed until the ceremony, which will culminate with the awards on Sunday, March 28 at the Corales golf course at Puntacana Resort & Club.
The Corales Championship PGA TOUR 2021 will have a seating area on the 17th hole, a Foodtrucks area with service from 10:00 am and a skybox with free access for guests, until reaching the maximum capacity allowed by prevention protocols of Covid-19. This year, guests will be able to follow play on specific holes from the road, for an “Outside-the-Rope” experience, and holes 1, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18 will be open to the public.
The event will be broadcast live on the renowned Golf Channel television network from March 25 to 28, from 11:00 am (local time) to 2:00 pm, and the final from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. At the local level, CDN Deportes will be broadcasting live from the Corales golf course capturing the incidents of the event and on Sunday, March 28, it will be broadcasting the awards ceremony live at 5:30 pm estimated time.
Following prevention measures, the event will not have social activities. However, the spectators of the event will be able to enjoy digital content through social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, with an agenda of activities, information and entertainment.
The event protocol includes taking the temperature at the entry points, the mandatory use of a mask by volunteers and staff, frequent deep cleaning, and disinfectant gel stations in all tournament areas, among other measures. In addition, in order to reinforce physical distancing, the different groups and teams that carry out a function will be divided by “bubble” modality.
Like the edition held in September 2020, players and their caddies must carry a PCR and / or negative antigen test prior to their arrival in the country, as part of the gaming protocols established by the PGA TOUR organization.
