Walt Disney World Resort opens Galaxy´s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the new themed area within Disney’s Hollywood Studios, opened its doors on August 29, 2019, and invites visitors to live their own Star Wars adventures while exploring a remote planet filled with incredible views, sounds , aromas, flavors and other interactive experiences. The largest and most technologically advanced extension of an area, with a single theme, never carried out in a Disney park, also opened at Disneyland Park, in California, on May 31, 2019.
Visitors will be transported to a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, through a trip to Batuu, the new location of a story that began in 1977 with the first Star Wars film delivery. Visitors will be part of the story while they savor food and galactic drinks, enter a unique collection of stores and take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy, aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Visitors will enter their own Star Wars adventures and be part of the action as it unfolds in front of them. In addition, thanks to the mobile application Play Disney Parks, they can interact with the thematic area and its residents, which will further increase their relationship with it. They can choose to help a smuggler, join the Resistance or swear allegiance to the First Order. This complex narrative is part of the total immersion that distinguishes the 5.6 hectares of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, from any other thematic area in Disney’s history.
The new thematic area is the result of an extensive collaboration that has taken decades between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm Ltd., a leading global company in the production of film, television and digital entertainment, which includes the Star Wars franchise. The joint work of these two creative and legendary organizations began in 1987, when the revolutionary Star Tours attraction debuted at Disneyland.
